Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since the end of the 1980s. in the television and film industry, she's known for her nominations and awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born and grew up in New York New York. Bassett's mother had split from her father when she was about five. She and her younger sister then moved into St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett watched the James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play while she was still in high school, and realised that it was acting she wanted to do. After graduating of Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980 with the Bachelor's degree with a major in African American Studies, she went on to earn a Master's Degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama.
